Creating Sacred Space with Sophie Jongejan
Thank you for sharing your precious space with me & tell you a little bit more about… sacred space :)
For those who don’t know me, I am a Soul Reader, a dreamer & a traveller. I am also French but that’s not very relevant :)
I have always been connected to the sky, the ethereal and the unknown but most of all I have always valued very much my personal space. Step by step, I understood the importance of having rituals & most of all, a sacred space.
I believe creating a sanctuary for your soul is one of the first pillars of alignment.
When you create a protected place for your soul to be and feel whatever she wants to feel, you already did the bigger step in your spiritual journey.
Your sanctuary is your place that holds your past, present, future. It’s the place where you come home, to your heart, to feel all the answers within you. To rebalance the flow of energies & connect with your inner wisdom.
Traditionally, sanctuaries are meant to be bridges between gods & humans.
It’s the same for you, it’s place where you pass bridges between your human self & higher self.
As much as we believe that a sanctuary has to be big, bold and shiny, it can also be something very simple that reminds you to come back home — to yourself.
At first, it’s always nice to set up a proper space in your home where nobody will bother you, where you can put the little symbols & objects close to your heart. Slowly, this space will shift into your soul and you will be able to connect to your sacred space anywhere. It will feel like lighting up a candle inside of you & knowing you’ve came back to yourself.
Connect to the elements, connect to nature, connect to your story.
Everything that makes you you. Little things in your life that really define who you are.
How would you define each element ?
What makes you feel like coming home ?
How do you honour your ancestors ?
What is the sign you use with your spirit team ?
~
For me, my sacred space is centred around a candle (fire)
I believe candles are lighthouses for spirits & show you the way by lighting up shadows.
Around the candle, I set a shell (water), an olive branch (earth) & incense (air).
Based on the four elements, I then add everything that makes me, me : flowers, crystals, tarot cards, photographs & music. I like to play with textures & feelings.
There is a mirror which helps me see the outside projections, always a journal so I can do automatic writing when I am channeling, silver, gold and copper to remind me that divinity is to be found everywhere.

When I am away from home, I light up that candle in my soul that takes me right away to that space. I find stillness in me, I find answers in me by connecting to this place, my soul space.
Remember to come home, to yourself.
I am curious, how do you define a sacred space Emmie ? :) I love listening to your playlist on Spotify when I go to my sacred space ;)
Love x Sophie
I don’t know how I could possibly add more to this - but for me, sacred space is sitting on the floor, on a cushion or blankets in a tidy room, lighting incense or resin, opening the windows for fresh air & creating an intention. Oh & always having a notebook close by.
I hope this will inspire you to take at least a few moments to create a sacred space before any rituals over this energetically charged month. Please share your sacred space photos with us, too! Emmie xo
